Today its the 2nd of November, a month before we leave. The countdown now really started. But we are not ready for that. Behind the scenes we are busy arranging the money and the materials for the wireless internet. connection. We have a lot of contacts now several people over the world, for information and if they are willing to sponsor us. There is a lot happening, but we are not at the top yet!! Most of the internet stuff we have to buy, and we also have to test it, so if there will be major problems, we already can figure this out here, instead of having big surprises when we are there. We also have to arrange some important things like our Visa. But bit by bit we are collecting the things we need to bring to the Childrensvillage. We hardly cant wait to go !!! |

In the last weeks there was a lot about the fightings in Congo in the news. The conflict in Congo is based in the region which lies near Rwanda and all the problems are directly related to the Genocide between Hutu’s and Tutsi’s in 1994. Nkunda, a Congolese Tutsi, says that the Congolese gouvernment, doesn't protect the Congolese Tutsi’s enough for the Rwandese Hutu‘s who are responsable for the Genocide in 1994 . Ten thousand people in the eastern part of Congo are running for their liifes to hide for the CNDP rebels from the Congolese rebelsleader Laurent Nkunda. If the situation stays like it is now, we don't have to worry. The Cildrensvillage lies on a safe distance. But, like you, we keep our eye on any news. |

After some negotiation between Rwanda, the USA and the Netherlands, we deceided to see what we can do about the lightning damage on the internet connection from the Hospital. To fix the expensive sateliteconnection, we will need about 1500 dollars (1100 euros). At this moment we are on speaking terms with a company from the US to see if we can both take part in the costs it will take. We also will try to figure out how we can prevent the lightning problem. If we can fix the internet connection of the Hospital its relatively easy to get the last 4-5 kilometers to the orphanage. If there is, you get more news. |
